Centre for Action on Rape and Abuse provides support to children, young people of both genders up to the age of 19 and adult women who have experience any form of sexual violence, past or present, directly or indirectly. We provide face-to-face counselling and emotional support as well as an advocacy service. We will also women to the police, to court or to the GUM clinic if they request it.

CARA was formerly Colchester Rape Crisis Line (CRCL) and continues the work that began when CRCL became a registered charity in 1989. As an organisational member of BACP we are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the professional conduct procedure therein.
