Carers Support Harrow

Information, advice and support for carers

Suffolk Family Carers

Carers Support Harrow are supporting around 2,000 of the 20,500 carers living in Harrow.They have special projects for older carers and for younger carers. They have been offering respite to parents caring for disabled children for some time and have been awarded an Opportunities for Volunteering grant by Attend to help meet the demand from parent carers for respite care by recruiting and training new Volunteers.

Some of the Volunteers are Carers themselves, some are people who are cared for and some are looking to develop a career in social care.
They all benefit from;

  • The practical training and qualifications
  • Gaining experience
  • Team work
  • Companionship/developing relationships
  • Sharing their experiences

For those that are Carers and cared for, being active and getting out of the house  and interacting with others is of huge benefit to their health and well-being.

There are big plans for the future. They plan to buy a Nintendo Wii for Volunteers to take with them so that children will have the opportunity to be active and develop a closer, more enjoyable relationship with the Volunteer offering their respite care.They are also intending to establish a Carers Centre where events and activities can be held. The Centre would also provide accommodation for Volunteers so that Volunteers can come from all areas of the UK and have somewhere to stay so that volunteering can be full-time for a set period.

Attend golf day

After the success of last years inaugural charity golf day for Attend, we are offering another great opportunity to play golf at a beautiful centrally located course, nestled between picturesque locks, with panoramic views of the rolling countryside towards the River Trent.
The day provides an enjoyable occasion for networking, corporate entertaining, team building or simply a time to catch up with friends. Prompt bookings and pledges of support would be greatly appreciated.
