The London Jewish Cultural Centre offers the widest range of Jewish learning opportunities and Jewish cultural events in the UK. The Holocaust and Anti-Racism Department was set up to fight prejudice and bigotry through education.

The Holocaust stands as a central issue of modern Jewish history and the Department's role is to emphasise its continuing relevance for humanity as a whole. To this end the Department runs pioneering and influential educational programmes in the UK.
Holocaust survivors act as schools speakers for the Holocaust and Anti-Racism Department. The visiting speaker programme reaches out to schools across the country speakers with direct experience of the Holocaust talk to pupils, giving them a real understanding of this important historical event.
As time goes by, the Survivors are becoming frailer and find it more difficult to tell their story, so they are supported by other volunteers who shadow them, learning about them and their story and support them. The Opportunities for Volunteering grant awarded by Attend has allowed The Holocaust and Anti-Racism Department to recruit more of these volunteers to shadow Survivors and help keep the legacy going.

Quotes

"We are immensely grateful to the survivors and organisers. We feel privileged to be able to hear their story first hand." Canford School, Dorset
