Manchester Jewish Federation

Providing care to the Jewish community

The Manchester Jewish Federation (The Fed) was established in 1867 and its volunteers provide support, advice and guidance to people in need, of all ages and from all sections of the community. The Fed is one of the largest of Attend’s member groups with around 500 volunteers.

The Fed’s volunteers offer services including; family activity days, community transport, shopping and befriending support, respite for Carers, deaf and hard of hearing group support, a mental health group, adult social services support, home from hospital support and home and hospital visiting.

With the help of an Opportunities for Volunteering grant from Attend has set up a hospital visiting project for Jewish people including a bereavement service. They offer a one-to-one bereavement support and befriending in the clients home, a support group that meets once a month and a social group that meet for lunch once a month.
