These qualifications are based on the existing NVQs accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), and are tailored for those managing volunteers. Those completing the NVQ4 programme qualify for 'Associate' membership of the CIPD. Those completing the NVQ5 programme qualify for 'Licentiate' membership of the CIPD. Each candidate has to demonstrate competence in 12 NVQ Units. Some are mandatory and some optional.
This is an 'assessed' programme rather than a 'taught' course. Each candidate will have an allocated 'Advisor' and an allocated 'Assessor'. Over the period of 9-12 months the candidate will meet with their Advisor every six weeks or so (for approx. two hours) and then with their assessor on a couple or so occasions. The meetings can take place in the candidate's workplace. The advisor will seek to identify development areas and help the candidate to develop their working practices to meet the relevant NVQ standards.
Also, the NVQs do not require the candidate to put together a portfolio of evidence as the assessment follows a 'professional discussion' format. Also, there is no requirement for candidates to submit assignments or sit examinations.
All work is assessed by Attend Academy CIPD-accredited assessors. The CIPD also moderate a selection of candidate files.
The induction to the programme is incorporated into the first workshop.
