NVQs in Learning and Development
How the programme was delivered:
This was an 'assessed' programme rather than a 'taught' course. Each candidate was allocated an 'Assessor' and an 'Adviser'. Over the period of 9-12 months the candidate met with their Assessor every six weeks or so (for approx. two hours). The meetings took place in the candidate's workplace. The 'Assessor' sought to identify development areas and helped the candidate to develop their working practices to meet the relevant NVQ standards.
Also, the NVQs did not require the candidate to put together a portfolio of evidence as the assessment followed a 'professional discussion' format. Also, there was no requirement for candidates to submit assignments or sit examinations.
Who it was suitable for:
The courses were designed to cover for a variety of levels of responsibility, from anyone supporting the delivery of training, learning and development procedures either as part of an Learning and development, or HR department or working alone to support managers, to management of learning and development and developing learning and development strategy within an organisation.
Those completing the NVQ level 3 or 4 programme qualified for 'Associate' membership of the CIPD.
Those completing the NVQ level 5 programme qualified for 'Licentiate' membership of the CIPD.
