What the qualification is

The Certificate in Personnel Practice (CPP) is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD). Attend Academy have been working in partnership with the CIPD to develop a CPP programme suitable for those managing volunteers. Those completing the course qualify for ‘Associate’ membership of the CIPD.

How the programme is delivered:

The programme involves:

  • 10 days workshop attendance (two blocks of five days that are four months apart)
  • Approximately eight months duration in total
  • Three written assignments and two skills assessments

Who it is suitable for:

The programme is suitable for:

  • Those new to volunteer management, and seeking to develop key skills and knowledge
  • Those responsible for delivery of volunteering programmes who are seeking formal recognition of their experience with a professional body
  • Those preparing for a new role in volunteer management
  • Both paid staff and volunteers with responsibility for managing volunteers (NB it is also suitable for those responsible for managing both volunteers and paid staff)

Assessment

There are no exams, and the course is assessed through:

  • Two written assignments (2000 words)
  • Two skills assignments (completed during the workshops)
  • A management report (3500 words)
  • A management report proposal (relating to above report)

All work is assessed by Attend Academy. The CIPD also moderate a selection of written assignments, although this is to monitor marking standards, and does not affect the original mark awarded to students.

Day 5 - Essential skills in volunteer management

  1. Skills assignment 1 – interviewing
  2. Management report proposals

Day 6 - Training & development

  1. Attitudes and approaches to T&D and volunteering
  2. Developing a learning organisation
  3. Principles of learning
  4. Systematic training & development
  5. Training/learning needs analysis

Day 7 - Enhancing volunteers’ contribution

Training in Self-Advocacy skills for Carers. Two day workshop

This course aims to equip participants with an understanding of Self Advocacy and related issues. Throughout the training, participants will be presented with and given the opportunity to explore and discuss the issues around advocacy. They will also be encouraged throughout the programme, to identify and talk about their own feelings around advocacy issues. Participants will acquire skills required how to contact statutory services and present their issues in writing, over the telephone and by appointment. Certificate of Attendance will be issued.

Attend South East: Building for the Future

Please come along to the Countess Mountbatten Hospice on Wednesday 8th September at 10.00 am. Making it personal.

To mark World Alzheimer's Day, Bradford District Council in collaboration with Bradford Dementia Group (University of Bradford) and Attend - a membership - based organisation supporting volunteering in health and social care, are hosting a showcase event.
The day promises to be engaging and informative and will showcase the work and views of those personally affected by the condition and those who support them, working in health and social care sectors. The day is for anybody who works or volunteers in the Bradford and Leeds District areas.
