Friends Celebrate 90th Birthday of a Wonderful Volunteer with 17 years service

League of Friends
Volunteers of the Friends of the Hospital of St. Cross, Mayor, Consultants, Nursing staff and family members all met within the Out Patients Department on 13th February to celebrate the 90th birthday of Mary Lock who is our first volunteer to reach this wonderful age.

Mary Lock is an integral part of the team of 200 volunteers. She can be found working on the Tea Bar in the Hospital Outpatients Department.  The Tea Bar is a popular service with a friendly smile and a welcome ‘cuppa’: Mary epitomises its quality of service, a fundamental ethos of The Friends of St Cross.  She also volunteers on a Wednesday each week to help nursing staff with drinks or other duties.

After 17 years volunteering for the Friends she is a Life Member and she is committed to continuing her duties as long as possible.

Without doubt Mary is an excellent front line ambassador for the Friends and the Committee were delighted to be associated with the celebrations for her 90th Birthday.
