The Friends of Nottingham Mental Health charity, based at Duncan Macmillan House, has received a substantial donation from a group of residents in West Bridgford. For the past five years, neighbours on Selby Road have raised money for local causes by inviting the public to tour their gardens. Over the weekend 8th and 9th of June this year they chose the Friends for their donation.
Committee members manned an impressive display outlining the work of the charity and were on hand to answer the public’s questions. They also sold plants and bric-a-brac, whilst the granddaughters of one of the members busked on clarinet and saxophone!
Sunday proved an extra special day when the Lord Mayor of Nottingham, Merlita Bryan made an official visit and spent over two hours touring the gardens.
Some 600 plus people visited the road over the weekend. The resulted was a donation of £2,800 and a considerable raising of awareness of the charity’s aims.
