Jill Cox – Attend Trustee
Jill has worked within the charity sector for 10 years and joined Attend as a Trustee in 2014. She has an extensive background in operational and strategic management, business development, fundraising, volunteer management and training. Jill is an associate member of both the Institute of Fundraising and Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development and holds an NVQ5 in Management and an MBA.
Her early career started in the public sector, including local government, NHS and the Ministry of Defence. She worked at a number of hospitals including Queen Charlotte’s Maternity Hospital in London and a British Military Hospital in Rinteln, West Germany. Jill then moved into a training environment where she worked for the MoD’s new Youth Training Scheme for service dependents in Germany. This was the start of a 20-year progressive career in post-16 education and training and on her return back to the UK, Jill worked for private training companies operating in a number of senior management roles across the country.
Following a family re-location to Wirral, Jill moved into the not-for-profit sector. She has developed a passion for supporting volunteers and continues to be amazed at their dedication and the difference volunteering can bring to communities. Jill has worked for Leonard Cheshire Disability as North West Regional Volunteer Support Manager, working together with volunteers and service users in care homes. She has also held the post of Development Director at Wirral Citizens Advice Bureau, leading on all income generating activities, where in her final year in post she secured £2.1m of funds through public sector commissioning and a variety of grants.
