Disciplinary procedure

The disciplinary procedure applies equally to all employees and is founded on the requirements of the Employment Rights Act 1996 and ACAS Code of Practice on Disciplinary and Grievance Procedures (no. 1). It accords with good practice principles and the doctrine of natural justice

The principle aim of the procedure is to help and encourage improvement amongst employees whose conduct or standard of work is unsatisfactory. The focus is thus on a correctional rather than a punitive approach.

The disciplinary procedure also has a relationship with various other procedures including the Equal Opportunities procedure and the Grievance procedure.
