Our hospital was built as a War Memorial through public donations. As the hospital was gifted by local people, can the hospital be given back to local people?
When the NHS was formed, all hospitals, including voluntary and charitable hospitals, passed into the ownership of the NHS. There have been some High Court challenges to this position, but none have been successful.
Our community has bought equipment and furniture for the hospital through our League of Friends. What will happen to this if the hospital closes?
