Sickness Policy

An example Sickness Policy, so that your organisation and staff are in clear understanding when it comes to taking sick leave.

Staff who are unable to attend work because of sickness should inform their line manager by 9.00 am on the first day of absence.  This will allow for the appropriate cover to be made where necessary. If the member of staff is too unwell to contact the office, he or she should ask a member of their family or a friend to phone on their behalf. When sickness occurs during the working day, absence will be recorded as follows:
