Supported Volunteering

Sometimes known as 'Broker' projects, where a volunteer who has mental health issues is found a placement and both they and the placement providing organisation are supported during this process (and afterwards as necessary).

Supportive Volunteering, might best describe projects that enable organisations to develop their existing capacity (policies and support mechanisms etc) to be better able to include people with mental health issues. It is worth noting that supporting someone with a mental health issue as a volunteer is not much different than good practice in managing all volunteers. However here are a few of the Do's that have been put together in relation to people with mental health issues.
